Before Columbus, de Gama, and the other mariners hit the ocean blue, new plants and foods were transported, traded, and tried in different corners of the world. Some of them have been forgotten, others were adopted, and many have gone on to shape today's world. While no one could have imagined how the botanical discoveries from the past would become woven into human history, it is also surprising to realize how little we know about their origins.
